The Chinese Embassy in Tajikistan reported on Friday that three Chinese nationals were killed in an armed attack on the border of this Central Asian country with Afghanistan. The embassy expressed condolences to the families of the victims and called on Tajik authorities to investigate the incident and bring those responsible to justice. Chinese diplomats also confirmed that consular assistance is being provided to the victims' families. It was earlier reported that armed individuals attacked a group of Chinese citizens in a border area. Tajik security forces were dispatched to the scene to conduct an operation. China and Tajikistan closely cooperate in the security sphere, particularly in combating terrorism and extremism in the region.
